The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, after the intelligence and SSU report, recorded a statement in which he announced that Russia was preparing a terrorist act with the release of radiation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. The Ministry of Health has published an algorithm of actions in the event of a radiation accident.

The relevant recommendations were published on Telegram channel of the Ministry of Health, Censor.NET reports.

"The first rule of safety in any emergency situation is to remain calm. The same applies to situations that have not yet happened. Panic and fear are exactly what the enemy seeks. President Zelensky did not say anything new in his speech today. Russia - this is a terrorist country, from which, like a monkey with a grenade, you can expect anything. The threat was, is and will be until we finally win. However, we must be ready. Always and for everything. That's why we share with you basic safety rules for radiation hazards. Read and share, but don't panic! Don't play along with the enemy. Iodine prevention is ONLY needed in case of an accident that HAPPENS. Potassium iodide is toxic to the body and doesn't "work" in advance. So again: don't panic and don't take reckless steps," the Ministry of Health said.

According to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, when an accident occurred at the NPP, you should stay indoors or enter it urgently. This is the safest thing to do. It is necessary to stay as far as possible from the walls and roof of the building. If there is such an opportunity, you should be in a room without windows and external doors, close the windows and doors, seal the openings with improvised means (tape, cloth moistened with water, etc.), and turn off the ventilation systems (air conditioners or heaters) in the house. Stay in shelters until further instructions are given by official authorities.

It is important to follow official sources of information: reports from rescuers (Emergency Services), police, and local authorities. Turn on the television and radio.

To disinfect yourself, you should carefully remove the top layer of clothing. Place the clothing in a plastic bag or airtight container, and keep it away from people and pets.

If there is an opportunity - wash. Take a shower with soap and wash your head with shampoo. It is not necessary to use hair conditioners, because they can fix the radioactive material on the hair. Do not rub or scratch the skin, because radioactive material can get into open wounds.

If there is no access to water, it is worth using wet wipes, a wet cloth. Special attention should be paid to hands and face, wipe eyelids, eyelashes, and ears. Put on clean clothes.

"Help your family and friends do all the above items. If possible, do it in gloves and a mask or respirator," the Ministry of Health says.
