Damage to Mariupol reaches more than 14 billion euros. It will take 20 years to restore city - Mayor Boychenko

The damage caused to Mariupol as a result of the Russian invasion amounts to more than 14 billion euros, and it will take about 20 years for the city to fully recover.
Mayor Vadym Boychenko said this while presenting the Mariupol Reborn project during the Lviv Urban Forum in Lviv, Censor.NET reports with reference to Liga.net.
"Our preliminary estimate of how much damage and losses the Russian aggression has caused to Mariupol today is 14.5 billion euros. In this sum, we invested, pre-calculating, the residential direction and communal services. There is no damage caused to business, there is no environmental damage. We want, so that people with experience and expertise give their assessment of this - perhaps this amount is greater," Boychenko said.
He added that they have already involved the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which are currently determining how much damage and losses Russia has caused to Mariupol. "And this will form a development plan, strategy and financial vision for the future revival of Mariupol," Boychenko emphasized.
According to the mayor, immediate restoration of Mariupol after liberation will take about two years. Then another 2-3 years will be spent on stabilization and preparation for the implementation of the city's revitalization strategy. The same revival will last about 15 years. Thus, in general, the revival of Mariupol will take about 20 years.
