Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Saturday they disapproved of the United States’ decision to provide Ukraine with cluster munitions to help breach Russian defense lines.

This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to European Pravda.

During a conversation with journalists on Saturday, the head of the Spanish Ministry of Defense said that she does not share and is "against" the decision of the US to send cluster munitions to Ukraine, but emphasized that she respects the decision of the "sovereign country".

"Spain, based on the firm commitments it has with Ukraine, also has a firm commitment that certain weapons and bombs cannot be delivered under any circumstances... No to cluster shells and yes to aid for the legitimate defense of Ukraine," Robles said.

In turn, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak emphasized in a statement to the media that he "does not encourage" the use of cluster munitions, and reminded that Britain has signed the convention on their ban.

"We will continue to contribute to support Ukraine against the illegal and unprovoked invasion of Russia, but we have done so by providing heavy battle tanks and more recently long-range weapons, and we hope that all countries can continue to support Ukraine," he added.
