We are moving Ukraine closer to NATO membership, realizing that Russian Federation will protest - Stoltenberg

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the Alliance made its strongest decision regarding Ukraine on the way to its membership with the full knowledge that Moscow would protest.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to the European Pravda.
"The biggest risk for Europe will be if President Putin wins. Because it will mean that he has achieved his goals by violating international law and using force. This will be a tragedy for Ukraine, but also a danger for us," he said in response to a question about the warning Kremlin in connection with the expected security guarantees for Ukraine from individual NATO states.
That is why, according to the Secretary General, the members of the Alliance clearly state that Ukraine has the right to choose its own path and which defense alliances it wants to be a part of.
"Therefore, we will never allow Moscow to decide who can and who cannot be a member of the Alliance," Stoltenberg added.
He recalled that Russia was against any expansion of NATO.
"That's why we are moving Ukraine closer to NATO membership with today's decisions, which are the strongest that have ever been adopted, with the full awareness that Moscow will protest. This was the case when Finland or Sweden or North Macedonia joined," the Secretary General concluded.
