Kuleba on anniversary of downing of flight MH17 by Russians: Responsibility of Russian Federation for its crimes is inevitable

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, expressed his condolences in connection with the anniversary of the downing of flight MH17 by the Russian armed forces on July 17, 2014 in the skies over the Donetsk region. Kuleba emphasized that the responsibility of the Russian Federation for crimes is inevitable.
He wrote about this on Twitter, Censor.NET writes.
The minister recalled that nine years ago, all passengers and crew members - 298 people in total - were killed in a plane shot down by a Russian Buk.
"She (Russia) lied about the tragedy for years, trying to avoid responsibility, until the court in the Netherlands established the truth. We mourn the victims of MH17 and emphasize that responsibility for Russia's crimes is inevitable," Dmytro Kuleba wrote.
It will be recalled that the passenger Boeing-777 of "Malaysia Airlines", which was carrying out flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, crashed in the temporarily occupied part of the Donetsk region on July 17, 2014. There were 283 passengers and 15 crew members on board the liner, all of them died.
The international investigative team concluded that the plane was shot down from the Buk anti-aircraft missile complex belonging to the 53rd Air Defense Missile Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces, stationed in Kursk.
On November 17, 2022, the court in The Hague found the Russian terrorist Igor Girkin (Strelkov), the General of the GRU of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, the head of the "GRU of the DPR" Serhiy Dubinsky, and the citizen of Ukraine Leonid Kharchenko guilty of shooting down the flight MH17 and killing 298 people, they were sentenced to life imprisonment. They must also pay 16 million euros in compensation. Lieutenant Colonel Oleg Pulatov was acquitted.
On February 8, 2023, it became known that international prosecutors are ending the investigation into the downing of the plane. However, according to them, the evidence of the involvement of Putin and other Russian officials is not clear enough, so they are closing the investigation without bringing new charges.
