Defense forces took control of almost all the heights on the flanks near Bakhmut. The enemy was trapped.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar during the telethon, reports Censor.NЕТ with reference to Ukrinform.
"The most expensive operation in this war for the Russian Federation was the Bakhmut battle. They really spent a lot of money and equipment there and put a lot of people there. And, as Russians like to create symbols and myths, they have now mythologized Bakhmut for themselves and are starting to fight for it, although in fact they are really trapped there," noted Maliar.
According to her, the Defense Forces have occupied almost all the key heights on the flanks - north and south - and are shelling enemy positions, the enemy is shooting back, but the Russians cannot leave the city, nor can they move around the city.
Maliar added that Ukrainian forces continue to control the southwestern outskirts of Bakhmut.
She noted that the enemy has more weapons and manpower in the eastern sector.
"Over the past week in the east, the enemy used 353 thousand rounds of ammunition, divided by seven days, which is about 50 thousand per day. We spend about 6-7 thousand (shells - Ed.) a day there," Malyar added.
As a reminder, Censor.NET reported that the Russian invaders are trying to maintain their positions near Bakhmut, so they are constantly bringing reserves there.
