Ukraine won case against Russia at ECHR

On 18 July, the European Court of Human Rights announced its judgement in the case of Russia v. Ukraine, in which Russia was dismissed.
Censor.NET reports this with reference to the ECHR press release.
"In its judgment today, the European Court of Human Rights unanimously decided to remove the application from the register of cases," the statement said.
It is noted that Russia's complaint was unfounded by all accounts.
After the lawsuit was filed, the ECHR immediately rejected the request for interim measures, clearly stating that Moscow had not provided evidence of "a serious risk of irreparable harm to fundamental human rights under the European Convention".
The court found no grounds related to the observance of human rights as defined by the Convention and its protocols that would require the case to be continued in any case.
Thus, the court concluded that the Russian authorities were no longer interested in continuing to consider the application submitted in 2021.
The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine responded to the ECHR judgment: "Russia accused Ukraine of alleged administrative practices of 'killings, abductions, forced relocation, interference with the right to vote, restrictions on the use of the Russian language and attacks on Russian embassies and consulates'. In this complaint, Russia also attempted to attribute responsibility for the downing of the MH17 flight to Ukraine because Ukraine "did not close its airspace". Moscow also complained about the blocking of the North Crimean Canal and asked the ECHR to apply interim measures, in particular, to oblige Ukraine to resume water supply to Crimea and to stop "harassment" in the use of the Russian language. But the court immediately refused to do so."
"This case clearly demonstrates Russia's attempts to pass off black as white, distort reality and shift responsibility for its own crimes to the party that suffers from its own military aggression.
Striking out the "Russian case" against Ukraine is another natural stage in the struggle to bring Russia to international legal responsibility for the crimes it committed against our country," said Margarita Sokorenko, the Commissioner of the Ministry of Justice for ECHR.
"After a thorough examination by the Court of the materials and evidence submitted by the plaintiff state, as well as taking into account Russia's behavior and lack of any cooperation since March 2022, the ECHR dismissed the claim in full and removed it from the register of cases," the Ministry of Justice summed up.
