EU sanctions against Russia have been extended for 6 months

санкції

EU restrictive measures aimed at certain sectors of the Russian economy have been extended until January 31, 2024.

As Censor.NET informs with reference to European Pravda, the European Council informed about this.

This package of sanctions, first introduced in 2014 in response to Russia's "destabilization" of Ukraine, was significantly expanded starting in February 2022 in response to Russia's unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine.

Currently, the sanctions consist of a wide range of sectoral measures: restrictions on trade, finance, technology and dual-use goods, industry, transport and luxury goods.

They also include: a ban on the import or transfer by sea of crude oil and certain petroleum products from Russia to the EU, the disconnection of several Russian banks from the SWIFT system, and the suspension of broadcasts and licenses of several Kremlin-backed disinformation media.

In addition, the European Union introduced specific measures to strengthen the EU's ability to counter the circumvention of sanctions. In addition to economic sanctions against the Russian Federation, the EU applies various types of measures in response to Russia's "destabilization" of Ukraine.

These include: restrictions on economic relations with the illegally annexed Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, as well as the territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions not under the control of the Ukrainian government; individual restrictive measures (freezing of assets and travel restrictions) against a wide range of individuals and legal entities, as well as diplomatic measures.
