The head of the defense committee of the Bundestag, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, welcomed the decision of the Netherlands and Denmark to supply Ukraine with F-16 fighter jets, stressing that this should be a "green light" for the German government to send Taurus missiles to Kyiv.

She said this on Deutschlandfunk radio, DW reports, Censor.NET informs.

The head of the defense committee called on the German government to decide on providing long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine as soon as possible.

"We have enough Taurus cruise missiles. We can deliver some of them. They are ready for use," Strack-Zimmermann clarified.

According to her, the fact that the Netherlands and Denmark have decided to supply Ukraine with fighter jets refutes fears that Kyiv could use Western weapons to attack Russian territories - an argument often used by opponents of providing long-range weapons to Ukraine.

"It is clear that there are no signs that Ukraine will be able to attack Russian territory," Strack-Zimmermann added.

We will remind you that on August 20, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was in Denmark after a visit to the Netherlands. At a meeting with the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen, it became known that Copenhagen decided to transfer 19 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine.

During a visit to the Netherlands, Zelenskyy announced that Ukraine would receive 42 F-16 fighter jets after Ukrainian pilots and engineers complete their training.
