IOC suspends membership of Russian Olympic Committee

The Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee has suspended the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) due to the inclusion of regional organisations of the occupied territories of Ukraine.
This was reported on the official website of the IOC, Censor.NET reports.
On 5 October, the ROC accepted the Olympic Committees of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine into its membership. The IOC stated that this is a violation of the Olympic Charter, as it also violates the territorial integrity of the NOC of Ukraine, recognised by the IOC.
The Executive Committee decided that the ROC immediately suspends its activities until further notice. The Russian Olympic Committee no longer has the right to act as a National Olympic Committee as defined by the Olympic Charter and cannot receive any funding from the Olympic Movement.
