European donor control service to be deployed in Ukraine

The European Anti-Fraud Coordination Service (AFCOS) will be deployed on the basis of the State Audit Service. It will monitor the use of money from international donors.

This was announced by the head of the State Audit Service, Alla Basalaeva, Censor.NET reports, citing the press service of the SASU.

"We will move to a large-scale system that will keep statistics on violations and analyse where problems may arise. Instead of looking for where the money went, we will prevent any negative phenomena in advance," she said.

The service will operate within the European Union budget.

"The draft regulation governing the Ukrainian Facility has already passed the first reading in the European Parliament. It stipulates that several institutions will check the Fund's expenditures. The EU will be represented by the European Board of Auditors. And there will be two national controllers - the State Audit Service and the Accounting Chamber," Basalaeva said.

Contacts with OLAF take place through the structural unit of the State Audit Service, on the basis of which the Ukrainian AFCOS will be developed in the future as part of the European system of control over EU money.
