The Ministry of Energy has agreed on schedules of power outages in case of massive Russian shelling of energy infrastructure, but they are not yet planned to be implemented

Deputy Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk said this during a telethon, Censor.NET reports with reference to Novyny.live.

According to her, possible blackouts can only begin if there is significant damage in the event of Russian shelling. Moreover, even if there is a certain deficit, Ukraine can cover it with imports from neighboring countries.

Hrinchuk also noted that schedules have already been developed for all regions. This was done to avoid situations that occurred last winter.

"We must be prepared for any situation and ensure fair distribution of electricity to all consumers. That is why the schedules do exist, but there are no plans to introduce them yet," explained the Deputy Minister.

According to Sky News, Western officials believe that Russia's missile attacks on Ukraine on the night of Friday, December 8, may indicate the beginning of a campaign to strike Ukraine's critical energy infrastructure, for which the Kremlin has been preparing in recent months.

Yesterday, on December 7, Ukrenergo reported a deficit in the power system. Power engineers recorded a record level of electricity consumption. Ukraine had to bring in emergency aid from Europe. Due to the power shortage, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal urged citizens to reduce electricity consumption.
