Hungary blocks EU economic aid to Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban blocked the adoption of the EU budget decision, which would have included a medium-term assistance programme for Ukraine.

This is reported by the BBC, Censor.NET informs.

"Results of the night shift: veto on additional money for Ukraine," Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban wrote on Twitter.

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has confirmed that EU leaders have failed to agree on the inclusion of aid to Ukraine in the EU budget plan. According to Michel, one country opposed this. He did not name it, but no one else is making a secret of the fact that it is Hungary.

According to him, EU leaders will return to this issue early next year.

"I don't want to go into details because I want to work with my colleagues in the coming days, in the coming weeks to prepare the summit that will take place next year, early next year," the European Council President was quoted as saying by AFP.
