Germany will deliver 68,000 155-caliber ammunition to Ukraine
The budget committee of the German Bundestag approved a framework agreement on the production of artillery shells. The country will supply Ukraine with 68,000 shells worth 278 million euros.
This is stated in the message of the German government, Censor.NET informs.
It is noted that the French defense company will deliver 68,000 high-explosive shells for the Armed Forces worth 278 million euros. Partner states will receive assistance in the form of military equipment and materials as part of an initiative by the German government.
The government noted that 155-millimeter ammunition is fired, for example, from the Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzer. Germany supplied Ukraine with 14 self-propelled howitzers, which have proven themselves well in combat.
In addition, Ukrainian crews undergo training in Germany.
The framework agreement with the manufacturer provides for the possibility of production and supply of up to 350,000 shells. Other countries can also participate in the project, as it is part of the EU initiative to accelerate the supply, procurement, and production of ammunition for Ukraine.
It is also about increasing the production of ammunition in Europe in the long term so that EU member states can replenish their stocks of ammunition.
