Kuleba: Ukraine brought EU out of "non-enlargement coma"

The European Union must believe that it can win and guarantee peace in Europe, for which it was created.

This was stated by Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba during a live broadcast on Instagram with journalist Vadym Karpiak, Censor.NET reports.

"It was Ukraine that brought the European Union out of the 'non-enlargement coma'. As a historical force, the EU was in a coma. As a common market, as a kingdom of peace, it was in a living, normal state, but as a driving force of history, it was in a coma, into which it drove itself with the so-called "enlargement fatigue" phenomenon," the Foreign Minister said.

According to Kuleba, by opening up to the idea of enlargement after Ukraine applied for membership, the EU returned to the historical stage and regained faith in its historical role, not a consumer role.

"We have brought it (Europe - ed.) out of a coma, but there are still areas, and the main one is that Europe must believe that it is able to win and fulfill its historic mission: to return and guarantee peace in Europe. After all, the European Union was created precisely to prevent new wars in Europe, and everything else, the economy, was a tool to achieve this goal," the head of Ukrainian diplomacy emphasized.
