He was preparing strikes of RF, which were supposed to de-energize Kyiv: SSU detained "Wagnerite" in Rivne region. VIDEO + PHOTO
During a multi-stage special operation, the Security Service detained a militant from the "Wagner" PMC group, who was "thrown" in Ukraine by Russia’s military intelligence (known as the GRU) to carry out sabotage. He was trying to attach several GPS trackers to power lines feeding the Kyiv metropolitan area in Rivne region.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SSU press service.
As noted, the offender was tasked with arriving from Belarus to Rivne region to adjust Russian air attacks on the energy infrastructure of our country.
The SSU learnt about such plans of the aggressor during the enemy saboteur's stay in Belarus. Since then, the SSU has been documenting his criminal actions in stages, from crossing the state border to arriving at the place of sabotage in Ukraine.
As a result, the offender was detained red-handed: he was trying to attach several GPS trackers to the power lines supplying the Kyiv agglomeration.
Based on the signals from the "beacons", the occupiers wanted to adjust the targeting of energy facilities, including using Shahed kamikaze drones.
The investigation revealed that the detainee is a Belarusian citizen who is a member of the Russian GRU's intelligence apparatus.
"From 2014 to 2017, the foreigner was a member of the "L/DNR" terrorist groups and took part in hostilities against the ATO forces in eastern Ukraine.
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, the militant joined the Russian private military company "Wagner", in whose ranks he stormed Bakhmut and nearby villages," the statement said.
Later, he returned to Belarus, where he received an assignment from his Russian military intelligence supervisor to prepare sabotage on the border territory of Ukraine.
SSU investigators plan to serve the detainee a notice of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Art. 113 (sabotage) and Part 1 Art. 258-3 (participation in a terrorist group or terrorist organisation).
