The State Bureau of Investigation has opened a criminal investigation into the death of a young man in a Kyiv funicular.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.
It is noted that the detained law enforcement officer has already been suspended from his duties. His command is providing full assistance in conducting urgent investigative actions. The full range of operational and investigative actions is currently being carried out, and the issue of serving a notice of suspicion to the detained law enforcement officer on suspicion of premeditated murder (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code) is being decided.
The State Protection Department said it had ordered an internal official investigation.
"The serviceman has been suspended from duty and taken into custody for the duration of the investigation. The State Protection Department of Ukraine is already providing all necessary assistance to law enforcement agencies and will assist in the pre-trial investigation in every possible way. We offer our condolences to the family of the deceased," the statement said.
