The German defence concern Rheinmetall has received an order from the German government to supply Ukraine with 20 more Marder infantry fighting vehicles. The vehicles are to be delivered in 2024.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the company's press service.

"The German government has instructed Rheinmetall to supply Ukraine with 20 additional Marder infantry fighting vehicles. The order was placed in March 2024 and has a value in the mid-double-digit million euros. The delivery of the new batch is scheduled for 2024," the statement said.

The 1A3 model ordered by the German government has a laser rangefinder for efficient and accurate target engagement.

Rheinmetall handed over the first 20 vehicles of this type to Ukraine in March 2023. Since then, several more batches have been delivered.

Developed for the German Armed Forces, the Marder IFV is considered one of the most effective and reliable combat vehicles in the world.

The Bundeswehr currently has more than 300 Puma IFVs in service, which represent the latest generation of this type of combat vehicle and are gradually replacing the Marder IFVs in the German army.
