Chinese companies supply arms parts to Belarusian defence contractor with Russian ties, - media reports
Chinese companies supply high-precision parts used in Russian weapons to a Belarusian defense contractor even after it came under Western sanctions because of Russia's war against Ukraine.
This is evidenced by documents reviewed by Nikkei Asia, Censor.NET reports.
China insists that it does not provide military support to Russia, but evidence suggests that Chinese companies may be deliberately facilitating the supply of weapons to Russia.
For example, the Belarusian opposition group BelPol has obtained contracts, payment documents, and other information from various industry sources about transactions between companies in Belarus and China.
Supply of laser components
According to these reports, Green Cycle Energy, a Shenzhen-based company, received an order from Belarusian defense contractor BelOMO Holding on December 1 for three thousand components for the LAD-21T laser module. This state-of-the-art module is used for laser-guided bombs and missiles.
The payment was made in yuan. The Shanghai branch of the Russian state-owned VTB Bank was involved in the transaction.
The journalists reminded that the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on BelOMO on December 5 last year for providing support to the Russian military in the field of armaments. However, on February 16, Green Cycle Energy and BelOMO signed a contract for another 5.56 million yuan (764 thousand US dollars) to purchase these components.
Supplying parts through another company
On February 1, another Chinese parts manufacturer, Morotack (Tianjin) Technology, signed a contract to supply Diaprojector, a BelOMO group company, with 200 units of components called flanges worth 114 thousand yuan. Belarusian and Chinese banks participated in the deal.
These parts are considered essential for advanced guidance systems. In a letter dated May 2, BelOMO also requested 100 units of each of the relevant components from Morotack each month.
The records obtained by the analysts contain some hints of close cooperation between Russian and Belarusian defense contractors.
Ties with Russia
The records also contain some hints of close cooperation between Russian and Belarusian defense contractors.
For example, on February 2, the St. Petersburg-based Precision Laser Systems supplied laser-related components to Diaproektor. They included laser diodes manufactured by the Chinese company Haucore from Jinan.
The delivery included 78 units worth $499,200. Precision Laser Systems made similar deliveries to Diaprojector on February 20 and March 20.
At the same time, as BelPol found out, Diaproektor sells components to the Belarusian defense contractor Peleng, which supplies the Russian army with Sosna-U tank sights and is under US and British sanctions.
