EU appoints chief "fighter" against Russian propaganda
Giles Portman has been appointed the chairman of the European Union team of experts, seeking to counter Russian propaganda.
As reported by Censor.NET citing Radio Liberty, Portman himself announced this on Tuesday, Aug. 1, on his Linkedin page.According to Portman, his responsibilities include communicating and promoting EU policies in the EU's Eastern neighborhood, strengthening the media environment and media independence, as well as improving the EU's capacity to anticipate and respond to disinformation.
Earlier, Portman worked in the European External Action Service, UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, UK Permanent Representation to the European Union, etc.
The anti-Russian propaganda team is to embark on its work in full this September.
