Czech Republic to receive 14 Leopard tanks as gift from Germany as compensation for assistance to Ukraine, - Ministry of Defence

The Czech Republic will receive 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks and one Büffel 3 rescue tank from Germany. This is compensation for the transfer of weapons from Czech warehouses to Ukraine.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic, Censor.NET informs.
The Czech Defense Ministry has already signed a corresponding document on the transfer of tanks from Germany. It is noted that this is the second compensation for the Czech supply of military equipment to Ukraine.
The first German Leopard 2A4s from this batch will be delivered to the Czech Republic at the end of 2024, and the last ones by the end of 2026.
In addition, the Czech Ministry of Defense is negotiating with Germany to purchase the next 15 tanks of the same modification from Berlin for its army. If purchased, the Czech army may end up with 42 Leopard 2A4 tanks and three repair and recovery vehicles.
"The modernization of our tank army continues. We are replacing Soviet equipment with new, modern vehicles that can withstand the modern battlefield. This is an important step forward for our tankers. I would also like to thank the German side for appreciating our assistance to Ukraine, which is facing brutal Russian aggression," said Jana Černohova, the Czech Defense Minister.
As a reminder, at the end of November 2023, the Czech Republic received 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks from Germany. They are compensation for the military assistance that the Czech Republic provides to Ukraine to counter the Russian invasion.
