Fierce battles take place in Kalynove, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Zhelanne and Karlivka areas - General Staff
Ukraine's defense forces continue to hold back the Russian invaders' offensive. Russian terrorist forces continue to destroy Ukrainian cities and villages with air and artillery strikes.

As noted, the number of combat engagements has increased to 56. The situation is the most intense in the Lyman and Pokrovsk directions. Ukrainian defenders are taking all necessary measures to prevent a breakthrough of the defense.
Shelling of the territory of Ukraine
According to the General Staff, today the occupiers intensified the use of aviation in the border areas of Sumy region. At present, there are 16 known air strikes involving 23 guided aerial bombs. In particular, the enemy attacked the areas of such settlements as Pryvillia, Pavlivka, Basivka, Novenke, Yunakivka, Kyianytsia, Yablunivka, Pushkarivka, Kondrativka and Mohrytsia.
The aggressor also used artillery to shell Pokrovka, Khliborob, Bachivsk, Yunakivka, Kruzhok, Buniakine and Brusky.
The situation in the Kharkiv region
In the Kharkiv direction, four firefights have taken place near Vovchansk since the beginning of the day, two of them are currently ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian troops unsuccessfully attempted to assault our positions near Synkivka once.
The situation in the East
According to the General Staff, the enemy attacked in the area of Makiivka, Nevske, Terny and Serebrianskyi forest in the Lyman direction. Since the beginning of the day, there have been 15 combat engagements in this area, with four ongoing. The situation is under control.
"The enemy keeps trying to break through the defense of our troops in the Siversk direction, but receives a decent rebuff from Ukrainian defenders. For instance, near Verkhnokamianske, Ivan-Darivka, Spirne and Vyimka, the invaders tried to push our units eight times," the statement said.
It is also noted that in the Kramatorsk direction since the beginning of the day, Russian troops have tried to drive our units from their positions six times. Four assaults near Chasiv Yar, Kalynivka and Ivanivske were repelled by Ukrainian troops. Two more attacks are ongoing.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy attacked our troops' positions seven times with the support of attack and bomber aircraft. Two combat engagements are currently ongoing near New York.
The General Staff emphasizes that the situation in the Pokrovsk direction remains tense. Fierce fighting is taking place in the areas of Kalynove, Vozdvyzhenka, Novooleksandrivka, Zhelanne and Karlivka. So far, the enemy has made ten attempts to storm Ukrainian positions. Fighting continues in five locations.
In the Kurakhove direction, the invaders attacked our units once since the beginning of the day. They tried to advance near Krasnohorivka.
The situation in the South
In the Vremivka direction, two enemy assaults towards Vodiane and Vuhledar were repelled, and another battle was ongoing.
In the area of Mala Tokmachka in the Orikhiv direction, the occupiers tried to advance once but received a fierce rebuff. The enemy also used aircraft to attack Huliaipole.
The soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are taking the necessary measures to deter the enemy's offensive.
