Zelenskyy: Russia’s readiness for talks will depend, in particular, on US elections
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Russia's willingness to negotiate will be affected, in particular, by the US elections.
According to Censor.NET, citing RBC-Ukraine, the head of state said this after talks with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
"In my opinion, firstly, it depends on the elections in the United States. I think they will be watching the policy of the United States on this issue. And the United States will demonstrate the policy very quickly, after the election, in my opinion," he said.
He received this information during meetings with US presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
"I believe that they will not wait until January: they will not be able to do something according to their powers, but they will be able to do something," Zelenskyy added.
The second point is energy and free navigation, the president said.
"Also, if we manage to get a result on these two points, it will also be a signal whether Russia is ready to end the war," he explained.
The third point is Ukraine's work with some countries of the Global South.
"We are conducting it. We have meetings. Different countries, different contacts. Sybiha went to Turkey today. Tomorrow, Rustem Umerov and Andrey Yermak will go to another country in the Global South. ...The Kursk operation had a great impact on everyone. Especially on the players in the Global South. For them, this is, of course, such a serious shock and signals that speak of the state of the Russian army - that for several months their army has not been able to push the Ukrainian military out of the territory of the Russian Federation," the head of state summarized.
