Коаліція дронів для України: 1,8 мільярда євро

The Drone Coalition, which unites 17 partner countries, has announced the allocation of 1.8 billion euros to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Umerov announced this on Facebook, Censor.NET reports. "This was reported by our partners from Latvia, which, together with the United Kingdom, is leading this initiative. This decision will allow Ukraine to strengthen its technological advantage on the battlefield and destroy the enemy more effectively," the statement reads.

Support from countries including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Poland, Sweden, and others will provide Ukraine with new opportunities for the development of unmanned vehicles.

"Latvia will allocate 20 million euros this year for the drone coalition: at least 10 million for purchases from the domestic industry, and 5 million for joint purchases within the coalition," the minister writes.

Training for pilots

In addition to financial assistance, Latvia has also signed an agreement with Ukraine to train Ukrainian military personnel in the drone piloting program.

According to the report, this initiative will be an important step in strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities and will allow us to destroy the enemy more effectively while saving the lives of our defenders.

"Drones are the weapon of the future, which is already helping Ukraine to maintain its defense and save the lives of our defenders. I am grateful to our partners for their contribution to Ukraine's victory!" Umierov said.

What is the Drone Coalition?

The Drone Coalition is an organization of countries involved in the production and transfer of drones to Ukraine as part of the supply of weapons and equipment to Ukraine during the Russian invasion to repel Russian aggression.

The Drone Coalition was established in February 2024 during the 19th Ramstein meeting. The initiative was proposed by Latvia and is coordinated jointly with the United Kingdom. The Drone Coalition currently includes 17 partner countries.

Ukraine has already received thousands of drones under the initiative. It is expected that another 20,000 to 30,000 drones will be purchased and delivered with the funds already accumulated by the Coalition for joint procurement (EUR 71 million).
