Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Russian interference in the elections in Romania: Kremlin’s aggressive plans go far beyond Ukraine

Ukraine's MFA on Russia's interference in elections in Romania

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expresses solidarity with Romania against the backdrop of Russia's unprecedented hybrid attack against Romanian democracy, as evidenced by the data declassified by the Romanian authorities this week.

According to Censor.NET, this is stated in the commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Russian interference in the elections in Romania.

Thus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Russia's blatant interference in Romania's internal affairs is an attempt to deprive the Romanian people of their constitutional right to free expression of their will.

"This is yet another episode of Russia's broader hybrid aggression against Europe and the rest of the free world, which has been manifested recently in Russia's active efforts to undermine the situation in Georgia, Moldova and a number of other countries.

Russia's interference in Romania's internal affairs confirms previous statements by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry that the Kremlin's aggressive plans go far beyond Ukraine and extend to the EU and NATO countries, among others. The response to such Russian threats must be joint and decisive, including maximum support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression in order to maintain stability in Europe and the world," the commentary reads.

In addition, according to the Foreign Ministry, Romania is an important neighbor and reliable partner of Ukraine, which firmly supports Ukraine's fight against Russian aggression and provides significant support.

"Our solidarity with the Romanian people remains unwavering. We sincerely hope that in the course of the further electoral process, Romanian citizens will be able to exercise their right to vote without foreign interference," the Foreign Ministry added.
