NATO takes over coordination of military aid to Ukraine from US - Reuters

The North Atlantic Alliance has taken over the coordination of Western military assistance to Ukraine from the United States, as planned.
This is reported by Reuters with reference to an unnamed source, Censor.NET informs.
According to the source, the headquarters of the "NATO mission" for Ukraine, called "NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine" (NSATU), is already fully operational. It is located on the territory of the US base in Wiesbaden, Germany.
Allied leaders agreed to establish the NSATU at a summit in Washington in July 2024.
The total number of NSATU troops is expected to be around 700, including troops stationed at NATO's SHAPE military headquarters in Belgium and at logistics centers in Poland and Romania.
The center is designed to coordinate training and weapons supplies to Ukraine. Thus, it gives NATO a greater role in helping Ukraine counter Russian invasion.
At the same time, the agency's interlocutors say that such a transfer of authority to NATO may have a limited effect. The US may still reduce its assistance to Ukraine after the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump.
For reference:
NSATU is a security assistance and training structure for Ukraine. It will coordinate the provision of military equipment and training to Ukraine from Allies and partners.
NSATU will operate on the territory of Allies and support Ukraine's self-defense in accordance with the UN Charter.
The decision to establish the NSATU was made by the leaders of NATO member states at the NATO Summit in Washington, DC, which took place this July.
