Ukraine needs real peace, not just pause in hostilities - Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy says Ukraine needs real peace in war with Russia

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine needs real peace, not a pause in hostilities with Russia, and this can be realized through a strong common position of partners.

The head of state said this during a joint press conference with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Lviv, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"After President Trump's inauguration, efforts to stop the war will obviously be intensified. All of us in Europe need not just a pause in hostilities, not just something temporary or uncertain, we need a strong common position of all partners, we need real peace. The main thing is that this kind of peace, peace through strength, can be ensured," the President emphasized.

Zelenskyy thanked Poland for its willingness to help and for its support of Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale war and throughout the years of independence.

He also thanked Poland for supporting Ukraine's aspirations to become a full member of NATO and to receive an invitation to join the Alliance as soon as possible.

"Poland understands how important it is in our part of Europe that security is truly guaranteed and that there is no geopolitical uncertainty," Zelenskyy added.

Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he did not need intermediaries in his communication with Donald Trump, neither outside Ukraine nor inside.
