Syrskyi on decision to attack Kursk: There was no choice, I had to carry out this operation

Syrskyi explains the expediency of the operation in Kursk region

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi explained why the operation in the Kursk region was launched.

According to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform, he said this in an interview with Le Monde.

"I had no choice, I had to conduct this operation. I had to simultaneously thwart the offensive on Kharkiv, relieve some of the pressure on all fronts and prevent the opening of a new front on Sumy. Therefore, I decided to conduct an offensive where the enemy had a weak point, with a very small number of soldiers to guard the border," he said.

The operation in the Kursk region, Syrskyi added, was conducted with "relatively few Ukrainian troops."

According to the general, this helped to weaken Russia's offensive potential and reduce the intensity of attacks, "with the exception of Pokrovsk and Kurakhove."

Earlier it was reported that the Russian troops are conducting an active offensive in the Kursk region with the involvement of North Korean army units.

The North Korean soldiers' offensive on the village of Plekhovo in the Kursk region cost them hundreds of dead and wounded.
