Britain and its allies plan to supply Ukraine with tens of thousands of UAVs starting in January

Great Britain

A coalition of countries led by the UK and Latvia that are jointly procuring UAVs for Ukraine will begin transferring tens of thousands of drones in January 2025.

This was stated by the Deputy Head of the British Ministry of Defense Luke Pollard, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"I can confirm that in January there will be a noticeable change in the situation when we will begin delivering tens of thousands of unmanned aerial vehicles as part of the coalition that the UK leads with our Norwegian and Latvian partners," the ministry quoted Pollard as saying in a speech to the House of Commons.

In addition, Pollard said that a new package of almost $285 million in aid to Ukraine, which was announced earlier on Thursday, will provide about $233 million for the purchase of "key military equipment" through the International Fund for Ukraine, managed by London. In particular, these funds will be used to purchase air defense systems and equipment for them, as well as "to strengthen the combat power of the Ukrainian Navy, in particular, advanced reconnaissance UAVs, latest generation unmanned surface vehicles, mine clearance UAVs and barrage munitions."

The rest of the funds will be used to supply electronic warfare systems against drones, "as well as respirators and equipment to protect Ukrainian soldiers on the battlefield."
