US provides Ukraine with $3.4 billion in direct budget support - Yellen

The US allocates $3.4 billion in direct budget support to Ukraine

In addition to military aid, the United States has also provided Ukraine with $3.4 billion in additional direct budget support.

This was stated by U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, Censor.NET reports.

Our direct budgetary support for Ukraine comes at a critical time when Russia is intensifying its attacks on Ukrainian civilians and critical infrastructure," she said.

According to her, economic assistance from the United States and allies "is crucial to Ukraine's ability to defend its sovereignty and achieve a just peace by providing critical public services that support its brave struggle."

The U.S. Treasury explained that in coordination with the U.S. Agency for International Development and the U.S. Department of State, this $3.4 billion in aid is the final disbursement of funds allocated under the bipartisan Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2024.

"Our direct budget support remains conditional on reforms to strengthen law enforcement, increase the transparency and effectiveness of government institutions, and strengthen anti-corruption rules and procedures," Yellen emphasized.

"Along with America's security assistance to Ukraine and the U.S. Treasury Department's actions to further strengthen sanctions against the Russian war machine, we will continue to do everything in our power to position Ukraine to achieve a just peace," she added.
