Zelenskyy: Halting Russian gas transit through Ukraine is one of Moscow’s biggest defeats

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the halt transit of Russian gas through Ukraine to Europe is one of Moscow's biggest defeats.
According to Censor.NET, the head of state wrote about this in his telegram.
Zelenskyy stressed that when Putin "was given power in Russia more than 25 years ago, the annual pumping of gas through Ukraine to Europe amounted to 130+ billion cubic meters."
"Today, the transit of Russian gas is 0. This is one of Moscow's biggest defeats. Turning energy into a weapon and cynical energy blackmail of partners is what deprived Russia of the most attractive and geographically accessible market for it," the President emphasized.
He added that given the circumstances, the vast majority of European countries have successfully adapted to such changes.
"Today, our common task is to support Moldova in its energy transformation. We also have to withstand the hysteria of some European politicians who prefer mafia schemes with Moscow to a transparent energy policy. We also hope to increase the supply of American gas to Europe, as President Trump has already mentioned. Cooperation and maximum offers from partners in the market will make it possible to make prices more comfortable," Zelenskyy said.
The President summarized: the more gas there is on the market from Europe's true partners, the faster the last negative consequences of Europe's energy dependence on Russia will be overcome.
As a reminder, at 07:00 a.m. on January 1, 2025, the transportation of Russian natural gas through Ukraine was halted in the interests of national security.
