Fighting continues in Kursk region, Ukrainian troops repel 13 attacks in Pokrovsk direction - General Staff
Since the beginning of the day, on January 1, 2025, 125 combat engagements have taken place at the front, the enemy has launched one missile and 26 air strikes, using 7 missiles and 34 guided bombs, 562 kamikaze drone strikes, and fired more than 3,000 times at the positions of our troops.

The situation in the Kharkiv region
As noted, the enemy attacked our fortifications seven times in the Kupiansk direction in the areas of Kolisnykivka, Zahryzove, Lozova and Nova Kruhliakivka. Five combat engagements are currently underway.
The situation in the East
According to the General Staff, in the Lyman direction, Russian troops assaulted Ukrainian positions 16 times in the vicinity of Novoserhiivka, Tverdokhlibove, Kopanky, Makiivka, Ivanivka and Serebrianskyi forest. Two enemy attacks in the areas of Torsk and Terny are still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, our troops repelled 14 enemy attacks in the areas of Chasiv Yar, Stupky and Predtechyne. Two combat engagements are still ongoing.
The General Staff also informs that in the Toretsk direction, the occupiers have stormed the positions of our defenders seven times today. All attacks in the area of Shcherbynivka were repelled, three enemy attacks are still ongoing in the areas of Toretsk and in the direction of Dyliivka.
"In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy carried out 35 assault and offensive actions during the day. Russian occupiers are most active in the areas of Vozdvyzhenka, Myroliubivka, Lysivka, Novyi Trud, Solone, Kotlynne, Pishchane, Pokrovsk, Novooleksiivka, Zelene, Novoolenivka, Dachne and Novovasylivka. Thirteen assaults on the positions of our troops are still ongoing," the statement said.
According to preliminary estimates, Ukrainian troops killed 161 invaders and wounded 143 in this direction; destroyed an armored personnel carrier and five vehicles, and damaged three vehicles and one enemy armored combat vehicle.
According to the General Staff, the enemy is also attacking intensively in the Kurakhove direction. At this time of day, there are already 18 firefights near Ukrainka, Petropavlivka and Kurakhove, and four combat engagements are currently underway. The enemy's losses in this area amounted to 86 occupiers killed and wounded; in addition, five armored combat vehicles were destroyed and one infantry fighting vehicle of the invaders was damaged.
The situation in the South
In the Vremivka direction, our troops repelled 17 enemy attacks near Dachne, Kostiantynopil, Yantarne, Novosilka, Rozlyv and Novyi Komar, six engagements are still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv direction, our troops successfully repelled one enemy attack near Novoandriivka.
In the Prydniprovske direction, the enemy conducted two unsuccessful attacks in the area of Zabych Island.
In the Kharkiv, Huliaipole and Siversk directions, the enemy has not conducted any assault operations since the beginning of the day.
The situation in the Kursk region
In the Kursk region, Ukrainian defenders have repelled 32 occupants' attacks today, and one battle is ongoing. In addition, the enemy launched one missile and nine air strikes, using seven missiles and eleven guided bombs, and fired 202 artillery shells.
There were no significant changes in the situation in other directions.
