Ruscists claim "complete capture" of Kurakhove. OSGT "Khortytsia" reported fighting in urban area. MAP
The Russian Ministry of Defense announced the alleged "complete capture" of the town of Kurakhove in the Donetsk region. Ukrainian troops reported that as of January 6, enemy attacks on Kurakhove's urban area continued.

The Russian Defense Ministry called Kurakhove a "powerful fortified area" and "an important logistics hub."
The Russian occupiers claim to have taken full control of the town.
What do the Ukrainian Armed Forces say?
As of the morning of January 6, 2025, the Khortytsia operational and strategic group of troops reported that Russian troops were conducting assault operations in the urban area of Kurakhove, in the direction of Petropavlivka and Dachne.
"Measures are underway to identify and destroy enemy assault groups trying to infiltrate our combat formations," Khortytsia said in a statement.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has not yet responded to the Russian Defense Ministry's statement.
As a reminder, DeepState analysts reported that Russian troops continue to seize territory in the Donetsk region, in particular, the ruscists have advanced in Toretsk, Zelene, and Petropavlivka.
