Trudeau to Trump: There isn’t snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of United States
Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who announced his resignation the day before, criticized US President-elect Donald Trump's proposal to declare the country the 51st American state.
He wrote about this on the social network X, Censor.NET reports.
"There isn't snowball's chance in hell that Canada will become part of the United States. The workers and communities of both our countries benefit from being each other's largest trade and security partners," Trudeau said.
Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly also commented on the words of US President-elect Donald Trump about Canada.
"President-elect Trump's comments demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of what makes Canada a strong country. Our economy is strong. Our people are strong. We will never back down in the face of threats," Joly said.
The day before, Donald Trump commented on the resignation of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and suggested that Canada should be incorporated into the United States.
On January 6, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his resignation as leader of his Liberal Party.
