Three small assault groups of the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade, each consisting of 4 paratroopers, launched an attack at dawn on January 1 in the Kurakhove direction.

The element of surprise was achieved – the occupiers' reconnaissance drones "missed" the advance of the assault groups and their entry into the first buildings. Our soldiers discovered civilians in one of the basements and assisted them in evacuating from the battlefield.
In the next house, the paratroopers took three prisoners. All of them were natives of Donetsk region, mobilized by force into the occupiers' ranks. They served in the 91st Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade and did not offer resistance.
During the assault operation, many occupiers who decided to shoot back were eliminated. Thanks to a carefully planned assault and coordinated actions, our soldiers took control of several important positions.
