According to CNN, incumbent President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden greeted President-elect Trump and Melania Trump on the doorstep of the White House after a service at St John's Episcopal Church.
Traditionally, the outgoing president accompanies the newly elected president to the US Capitol for the swearing-in ceremony.
Biden and Trump, along with their spouses, are expected to have tea together at the White House this year.
Meanwhile, in the last hours of his presidency, Biden took a "farewell" selfie before leaving the presidency.

Guests of honor begin to arrive at the inauguration ceremony of the 47th President of the United States.
Among them are CEO of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Charles Brown, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy, and others.
