Podcaster Friedman about his interview with Zelenskyy: He spoke rudely about Putin, it is ineffective for negotiations

American interviewer Lex Friedman criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his "rude words" against Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in an interview on January 6.
Friedman said this at the end of his podcast with American historian Jennifer Burns, Censor.NET reports.
The podcaster recalled his interview with Zelenskyy and said that "Putin loves his country," so he should be taken seriously.
Friedman noted that Zelenskyy behaved harshly and instead of "signaling a restoration to peace" decided to hurl insults at Putin.
"I gave the president (of Ukraine) a special chance to show his willingness to negotiate, knowing that both Trump and Putin would see this interview. I don't think he took it. On the contrary, he decided to say very harsh things about Putin. This is understandable, but ineffective for negotiations," Friedman said.
According to him, there have been many interviews where Putin has been criticized.
However, unlike others, this conversation took place with the leader of Ukraine, and he "during a historic opportunity for peace" spoke "rude words of disrespect."
Lex Friedman added that he supports peace and negotiations between Russia and Ukraine to end the war. He understands that Ukraine wants justice, but peace talks "require compromises to avoid further death and suffering."
He also added that he plans to talk to Russian dictator Putin.
"I realize the risks and I accept them. Risks are not important to me, I just want to make a small contribution to peace at a time when it can really be achieved," Friedman said.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to record a podcast with the famous American interviewer Lex Friedman in Kyiv.
Friedman plans to conduct an interview with Russian dictator Putin in January 2025.
