EU Ambassador Mathernova on ceasefire in Ukraine: Peace is impossible without security guarantees

EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarina Mathernova emphasized the critical importance of security guarantees for Ukraine during any peace negotiations.
She said this in an interview with hromadske, Censor.NET reports.
"Talking about a ceasefire is difficult if it is not combined with the need for effective security guarantees for Ukraine," Mathernova said, explaining that without these guarantees, the process of ending the conflict could be catastrophic for the state.
The diplomat also emphasized that real peace can only be built if Ukraine is assured that "the horror of war and Russian invasion will not happen again."
As a reminder, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte recently outlined a strategy for continued support for Ukraine by Western allies and Europe's readiness to take on additional financial commitments.
