Adoption of law on multiple citizenship will facilitate return of Ukrainians from abroad - Zelenskyy

Zelenskyy comments on the law on multiple citizenship

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainians who left the country during the war and before would not be returned by force, but the adoption of a law on multiple citizenship would help to facilitate this.

The head of state said this during a conversation with scientists, students and pupils at the First National Forum of Talented Youth, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"The law on multiple citizenship was voted in the first reading. I think it is very important for people who left during the war, or even before that, to return. Multiple citizenship will allow people who have already received documents of another country (...) because of the war or other circumstances to return," Zelenskyy said.

The President believes that multiple citizenship will "free from many barriers."

The Head of State predicts that after the war is over, citizens will return to Ukraine, and the state's recovery plan will become the largest project in Europe.

No one will bring anyone back by force. Attractiveness and a market economy always bring people back. All of this will definitely happen after the war in any case, because only people can restore it, and first of all, it will be people of Ukraine and many foreign companies that will come to this market," Zelenskyy added.

As a reminder, on December 17, 2024, the Verkhovna Rada approved in principle the bill "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Ensuring the Exercise of the Right to Acquire and Retain Ukrainian Citizenship" submitted by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
