EU postpones plan to completely abandon Russian fuel for month - Bloomberg

The European Commission is changing the deadline for the publication of a plan to gradually phase out the last fuels the EU imports from Russia.

This is reported by Bloomberg, Censor.NET informs.

Instead of February, the plan will be presented on March 26. This document should be a key step in breaking away from the EU's energy dependence, which finances Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

As noted, the roadmap will be an important guide for member states in the process of reducing energy dependence on Russia. Particular attention is paid to liquefied natural gas (LNG), which remains one of Moscow's key sources of income after pipeline supplies through Ukraine were cut off at the end of last year.

In 2024, EU countries imported a record amount of LNG from Russia. The largest importers were France, Spain, and Belgium. In addition, some states continue to purchase nuclear fuel from Russia.
