In January, occupiers doubled use of FPV drones for attacks in Sumy region and quadrupled use of dropping explosives from UAVs

In January, the enemy's use of FPV drones in the Sumy region increased by 2 times, and the dropping of explosive devices from UAVs by 4 times. In total, the occupiers fired 2112 times in the region.

This was reported by the Sumy RMA, Censor.NET reports.

As noted, during January 2025, Russian troops carried out 2112 attacks on the territory of Sumy region, including:

  • 13 - missile attacks;
  • 210 - air strikes;
  • 157 - GABs (guided aerial bombs);
  • 53 - FFARs (free-flight aerial rockets);
  • 43 - unmanned aerial vehicles of the Shahed/Lancet type (39/4);
  • 287 - mortars;
  • 99 - artillery;
  • 682 - using "FPV drones" (an average of 23 per day, in 2024 - 13 on average per day);
  • 746 - dropping of explosive devices from unmanned aerial vehicles (an average of 25 per day, in 2024 - 6 per day on average).

"In January 2025, the Air Defense Forces shot down (destroyed) 257 Shahed/Lancet UAVs. I thank our air defense forces for their accuracy and effective work," said Volodymyr Artiukh, head of the RMA.

It is reported that 93 people were injured in January as a result of enemy shelling, 13 of whom were killed and 77 were wounded, including three children.

The RMA also notes that no border breakthroughs or the presence of Russian troops in the region were recorded.

At the same time, in January, the number of attempts by Russian subversive reconnaissance groups to enter the territory of the Sumy region increased. Ukraine's security and defense forces successfully counter these attempts and destroy the enemy groups.
