Ukrainian deminers cleared over 8,700 hectares of de-occupied territories in January - Ministry of Defense
In January 2025, the demining units of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine carried out a large-scale clearance of the de-occupied territories from explosive devices.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense, Censor.NET reports.
"In January, sappers discovered and destroyed 6,011 explosive objects. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the total number of neutralized items has reached 422,888," the statement said.
The total area cleared:
- 8,682.14 hectares of agricultural land,
- 11.38 km of highways.
As previously reported, as of January 31, there are 80 certified mine action operators in Ukraine, which is 9 more than in the previous month.
Humanitarian demining involves units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Special Transport Service, explosive units of the National Police and pyrotechnics of the State Emergency Service. The work is carried out in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On Mine Action in Ukraine".
