Musk spent at least $288 million to support Trump and Republicans - WP

Trump, Musk

Elon Musk has invested at least $288 million in the election campaign of Donald Trump and other Republican candidates in 2024, making him the largest political donor of the presidential cycle.

This is reported by The Washington Post, citing documents from the Federal Election Commission, Censor.NET reports.

As noted, last year Musk helped found America PAC, a group that raised $263 million to support Trump. The funding came from both Musk himself and his allies, including Tesla board member Antonio Gracias, Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale, and Sequoia Capital investor Sean Maguire.

According to WP, Trump's financial support has already paid off for Musk - after the Republican's victory, his fortune has grown significantly due to the rise in Tesla's stock price.

In addition, after the election, Trump instructed Musk to head a new "Department of Government Efficiency" to reduce government spending and regulation. WP notes that this position may allow Musk to influence policies affecting his companies, including Tesla and SpaceX.

Earlier it was reported that Elon Musk was nominated for the Nobel Prize for the defense of freedom of speech and human rights.
