"Marketing cynicism and hypocrisy": Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns use of footage of war in Ukraine in advertising campaign of Russian publication

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has strongly condemned the use of footage of the war in Ukraine in an advertising campaign for the English-language version of the Russian publication Meduza, which operates in Latvia.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry published a statement on the social network X, Censor.NET reports.
"A special "award" for marketing cynicism and hypocrisy should be given to the Lure agency from Berlin. They showed Ukrainians who had lost their families and homes in a commercial for the Russian publication Medusa. It is a complete disgrace to use our tragedy to evoke sympathy for the Russians," the ministry said.
In addition, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhiy Tykhyi called for the immediate removal of this content from all media platforms on social network X.
"We demand that all such promotional content that exploits the suffering of Ukrainians caused by Russian terror be immediately removed from all media platforms where it appeared. We also believe that Ukrainians whose suffering is being cynically exploited deserve an apology," the spokesperson said.

In the ad, the Russian media outlet used footage of explosions in Ukraine and Yaroslav Bazylevych at the funeral of his wife and three daughters, who were killed in a Russian missile attack on Lviv on September 4, 2024.
According to Feshak, the advertising for Meduza was developed by the Berlin-based Lure agency.
