USAID headquarters in Washington closed - CNN

USAID headquarters closed in Washington, DC

On February 3, 2025, the headquarters of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) was closed in Washington, DC. Employees have been sent relevant letters by email.

CNN writes about this, Censor.NET reports.

Thus, employees received letters asking them not to go to work. The Office removed USAID illustrations and signs, as well as photos from the Agency's projects.

It is not yet known whether the office will be open.

On Tuesday, February 4, employees were ordered to work remotely, CNN reports. Employees do not know for sure whether the office will be open on Monday.

Donald Trump has suspended international humanitarian aid for 90 days for inspections. 60 high-ranking employees of the agency were put on leave. However, CNN, citing USAID employees, reports that the agency's leaders have been "fired."

What preceded it?

As reported earlier, USAID has confirmed the complete suspension of funding for all programs and projects in Ukraine for 90 days to implement the State Department's directive on foreign aid audits. This decision applies to all countries where USAID operates, with the exception of Israel and Egypt.

Ukrainian organizations and local governments are notified of the need to suspend the implementation of projects funded by USAID or organizations dependent on American funding.

USAID supports projects in more than 100 countries around the world, including in Ukraine, where funds are used to rebuild schools, provide healthcare services, and repair the critical energy system.
