EU should speed up arms supplies to Ukraine in coming weeks, - von der Leyen

The European Union will focus on accelerating the supply of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine in the coming weeks.
This was stated by the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, Censor.NET reports with reference to Ukrinform.
"The war in Ukraine remains the central and most consequential crisis for the future of Europe. Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine will soon enter its fourth year. Putin is trying harder than ever to win this war, and his goal remains Ukraine's surrender. And we know what can happen after that because it has happened before. He will move on to the next goals, as he did after the events of 2008 and 2014. It's not just about the fate of Ukraine, the fate of Europe is at stake. So our first priority is to give strength to the Ukrainian resistance," she emphasized.
According to von der Leyen, since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, the European Union has provided Ukraine with 134 billion euros in support.
"Thanks to the Ukraine Fund (in the EU's multi-annual budget for 2024-2027 - Ed.) and the G7 loan, we have closed Ukraine's budget shortfall for the whole of 2025. In parallel, we have to speed up the immediate delivery of weapons and ammunition. This will be at the center of our work in the coming weeks," added the EC President.
