Trump plans to meet with Zelenskyy next week: wants to discuss rare earth metals and ending war

Trump announces meeting with Zelenskyy

On Friday, February 7, US President Donald Trump said that he is likely to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy next week.

He told journalists about this, Censor.NET reports.

"I will probably meet with President Zelensky next week," Trump said.

The American leader also said he was going to talk to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

"I want to see the end of this war. The main reason is the killing of people, the loss of so many people. 800 or 900 thousand Russian soldiers have been killed or seriously wounded. And so have Ukrainians - about 700 thousand Ukrainian soldiers. They give lower numbers, but these numbers are incorrect," Trump said.

The head of the White House reiterated that Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine would not have started if he had been president.

In addition, Trump said that he wants to discuss with Zelenskyy "the security of Ukrainian assets," namely rare-earth elements and the end of the war in Ukraine.

When asked where the meeting might take place, Trump said it could be in Washington, adding that he had no plans to travel to Kyiv.

Earlier, Trump said that the United States was having "very constructive talks on Ukraine."
