Russia and the United States have certain contacts, but no details have been disclosed.
This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, Censor.NET reports citing Russian media.
"I have nothing to add to what the presidential spokesman said. There are certain contacts, but I have no reason to disclose any details on this topic. But in general, the process is underway," he said.
According to Ryabkov, the Trump team has shown interest in resuming the dialogue between Washington and Moscow.
"We are ready for a dialogue, as we have repeatedly said, in particular, we are ready to discuss a settlement in Ukraine, but only on an equal, mutually acceptable basis.
It is up to the United States to take advantage of this chance. The language of ultimatums, shocking misrepresentations, attempts to tell us that we will be provided with a great favor in exchange for agreeing to obviously impassable demands - all this will not work in relations and dialogue with Russia," Lavrov's deputy said.
According to the New York Post, Trump said in an interview that he had spoken to Putin on the phone to try to negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.
The Russian dictator's spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, could not confirm or deny the telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, which was previously reported by the media.
