EU is ready to respond to any US tariffs - Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron believes that the consequences of the increase in tariffs on EU goods will be felt by US citizens themselves.
According to Censor.NET, he said this in an interview with CNN.
"If you impose customs duties on several sectors of the economy, it will increase costs and create inflation in the United States. Is that what your people want? I'm not sure," the French leader said.
According to Macron, a trade war with the EU should not be a "top priority" for the United States.
"I don't think it's a top priority in the current environment, given all the challenges we have. We have to fix the situation in Ukraine, we have the situation in the Middle East, we have competition between the US and China, we have all these innovations from artificial intelligence to clean technologies that we have to implement," the president said.
Macron believes that it is in the US interest not to threaten Europe with tariffs if the US wants it to invest more and make security and defense commitments.
Earlier it was reported that US President Donald Trump intends to impose tariffs on products from the European Union.
On Saturday, February 1, U.S. President Donald Trump signed executive orders imposing significant tariffs on imports of goods from Canada, Mexico, and China.
