Supply of substandard helmets worth UAH 36 million to State Border Guard Service: Director of company and commander of military unit to be tried - SBI

SBI officers have completed an investigation into the director of a company that supplied the State Border Guard Service with low-quality ballistic helmets worth UAH 36 million.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the SBI press center.
As noted, an investigation was previously completed against the commander of the military unit who accepted and paid for these helmets.
The indictments have been sent to court.
What did the investigation find?
After the beginning of Russia's armed aggression, the commander entered into an agreement with a private enterprise for the purchase of helmets for border guards.
The supplier delivered the helmets to Ukraine and, in accordance with the requirements of the law and on the basis of the agreement, 8 helmets were sent to a specialized institution for quality testing. The examination showed that the helmets did not meet any of the required protection classes.
"Under such circumstances, the commander was obliged to make a decision to reject all the helmets delivered and return them to the supplier. Instead, he decided to accept the products on the balance sheet and pay for them," the SBI emphasizes.
The SBI has taken measures to compensate for the damage. In particular, it approved a schedule for the company to replace substandard helmets with those that meet the requirements of the contract and applicable regulations.
The company's director is accused of official negligence that caused grave consequences (part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The former commander is accused of intentional failure by a military official to perform actions that he was required to perform by his official duties, which caused grave consequences, committed under martial law (part 4 of Article 426 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
